The You Can Do It project is set to launch it’s first Summer Party this Sunday (the 22nd of August) at Fenton Manor.

The headline act of the show is recent Top Ten Chart artist McLean who will be performing his hit “My Name” as well as new single “Finally In Love”.

The “You Can Do It” project is a project involving young passionate business minded people aiming to make a change in the city of Stoke on Trent and across the West Midlands.

The project targets young people that are not currently in education or employment and whilst gaining the motivational skills through The Pacific Institutes PX2 training program, they will gain the skills and confidence it will take to become successful in all areas of their lives.

Through this project a young group of talented individuals have come together to showcase local independent artists alongside mainstream musical acts and dancers.

Our aim is to educate the community on some of the issues we face as young people in the city of Stoke on Trent.

Complementary to other reggae acts Abelwell and Disciples, Blackout JA and his dynamic performance may confuse you into thinking you’ve taken a left onto Hanley Park stepped into the Caribbean .

His approach to music is considered revolutionary, he using his music as a tool to fight oppression and set the captives free and to educate and entertain.

His previous successes have included working alongside international starts like Sly and Robbie.

Formed only two years ago in Stafford, they’ve already hit the 10,000 mile mark touring around the UK at various gigs and festivals.

With a early Kings of Leon sound, and style the band themseves discribe  as “Mississippi Fred McDowell meets the White Stripes” the main stage is sure to be dripping with Cajun charm.

There’s no backing tracks here, with a full live backing band with the whole nine yards, drums, guitars a few saxophones (you know how it goes) all topped of with some really refined vocal, you’ll kick your self if you miss out on this act.

With a mix of original work and covers, there’ll be something for everyone.

The event at Hanley Park on August the 8th is set to see “Ju Ju” perform hits from his own current material as well as classic anthems originally performed by his father.

We’re expecting an amazing show, as this performance is one of many shows Julian is set to perform on his European tour.

The line up, that already consists of some of the best urban, R’n'B and reggae acts from across the region will not fail to entertain hardened fans and new comers alike.

For those of you who like their music more Knutsford than Kingston, then this years Carnival has introduced the Bowling Green Stage.

We couldn’t ignore the thriving music scene that dominates our area and organisers have been inundated with enquiries from Staffordshire talent. The Bowling Green Stage is being coordinated by Youth Explosion, who promise at least 10 bands made up of performers aged 18 and under.

With the event planned to run from 11 am to 8 am, we’re well on our way to ensuring there won’t be any dull moments.

Worry not. Our third act to be confirmed for the Main Stage at the Six Towns One City comes in the form of The Phoenix Band.

This instrumental six piece discribe there sound as, “space age intergalactic psychedelic folk, rock, country, beat and funk backed by many a tasty sample.”

When these guys grace the stage, you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between Hanley Park and the heady summer delights of Glastonbury.

After getting kicking started with the energy of Akeem Jovani’s performance, you can give yourself a bit of a rest and relax some smooth R’n'B courtesy of young solo performer N-Star.

With a style that heavily features mellow rap over R’n'B rhythms, talking about love, life and sorrow and laugher.

If the past few days are anything to go by, the summer time  sadly on it’s way out. We’re hoping that Akeem Jovani’s performance on our main  stage will entice the sun out.

Performing on a regular bases in night club hot spots around the country, Akeem will definatly not disappoint.

With influences,  from artists such as Elephant Man, Beenine Man and Vybz Kartel, we’re pretty much guaranteed a lively performance.

Make sure you stretch your legs around the various stalls and spaces we’ve got around the site before heading over to the main stage. We don’t want you pulling anything whilst grooving around to this guy.

Despite stealing the show at last years event, the band are unavailable to perform in Hanley Park on 7th and 8th of August this year.

However, there is still plenty of time for you all you Stoke-on-Trent based business and performers to get involved.

We’re looking to top last years attendance of 16,000 people, so I think it’s fair to say that most businesses could generate an astounding amount of business with a potential audience of this size?

ded yet another live music stage to the event. This new addition will take in the form of a performance area situated on the park’s bowling green, and will focus on young local talent from around our area.

In related news, The Commitments Too have been confirmed to play the main stage again this year after the astounding popularity of last year’s performance.

Don’t despair if you’re not quite an axe master or lack the ability to rock the mic, there will be ample opportunity to shake your stuff to the huge variety of artists on the line up.

For those of you who are more about banking than beats, we’ve confirmed the details for those of you who wish to do business at the event.

Local companies, Jumbo Skips and CBI Security have already decided to come on board and sponsor the event.

We are currently offering: space for your companies logos and banners that will form coverage across the site, stall spaces to sell your product or promote your company, as well as areas for catering vans or companies who have their own means of running their business at the carnival.
